A handful of set days a year, timed to the light and the weather Kingston actually gets. Twenty minutes and twelve photographs edited by hand: $85 in the fall, $100 in winter.

Final weekend of the season

Fall Minis.

By November the maples are mostly done, so the last weekend of fall is about what stays: golden grass, oak leaves that hang on, low sun and knitwear. Two days, six slots each, and then fall is over until next year.

Winter Minis.

We set the winter dates from Kingston's own snow records rather than a guess. The first snow on the ground usually comes in late November, and through mid-December it is a coin toss. By the fourth week of January it has been there every day, in every winter with records since 2009.

How often Kingston has snow on the ground, week by week. Share of days with at least 1 cm, from Environment and Climate Change Canada's daily records for the Kingston Climate station, sixteen winters from 2009 to 2026. In a typical year, the first day with snow on the ground has come around November 21.

Questions about the minis

How much is a mini session?
$85 for the fall dates and $100 for the holiday and snow dates. Either way you get twenty minutes, twelve photographs edited by hand and up to four people. If you love more of the gallery, ten more edited photographs are $75.
How do I book a slot?
Pick a date and a time in the form below. We confirm by email within a day, with the payment details. Your slot is held once it is paid, first come, first served. Each day has six slots.
Where are the sessions?
In and around Kingston. If there’s a place that means something to you, tell us when you book and we’ll talk it through. Either way, you’ll have the exact spot and parking details before your session.
Will there be snow?
For the January dates, almost certainly. In all sixteen winters with records since 2009, Kingston had snow on the ground every day of that week. For the December dates, it is closer to a coin toss, which is why those are holiday sessions first and snow sessions only if the weather obliges.
What if the weather is bad?
If it rains, or Environment Canada issues a cold or freezing-rain warning for Kingston, we move your session to the weather date at the same time, free. Ordinary cold is not a reason to move: dress for it and we keep the session moving.
Can I bring more than four people, or a dog?
Minis are built for up to four people. For a bigger group, book a regular family session. Ask about a dog when you book and we will tell you whether the location suits one.
What if I cannot make it?
You can hand your slot to a friend. Slots are not refundable, because each one is a set time on a set day that we cannot resell at short notice.
When do we get the photos?
Within ten days, in an online gallery. Sessions on December 12 and 13 come back to you before Christmas.
